My name’s Ashish Maharjan. My pronouns are he/his/him and I’m a senior student at Western Oregon University pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems. I grew up in an ancient city called Patan in Nepal, which is one of the three main cities that make up the greater Kathmandu metropolitan area. Kathmandu, commonly also known as KTM is the capital city of Nepal. In ancient Sanskrit, the word Ashish literally translates to “blessing” and indeed I was very blessed to be surrounded by computers from a very young age. My older brother started an internet gaming cafe when I was in grade 5, which gave me a lot of room to explore and feed my growing curiosity toward this new technology. Fast forward 20 years and computers have wildly changed the world as well as my own life more than my wildest dreams.

Best of both worlds.

Starting a tech blog had been on my agenda since high school. Growing up in a third-world country, where you had limited access to everything made even the simplest of tech news a very big deal, so after all these years when I found out that we get to establish blogs for a computer ethics course in my senior year was naturally exciting to me on various levels.

Something Interesting about me?

Recently, I’ve decided to deep dive into drones for aerial cinematic videos as a side hobby to keep me motivated in pursuing things I loved as a child. FPV requires knowledge about electricity, aerodynamics, computers, etc. A combination of all the things I’m naturally interested in. This hobby also connects me to my younger self, whose favorite cartoons were dexter labs, codename: kids next door, justice league, etc.
